Ava Duvernay’s Netflix Miniseries ‘When They See Us’ Snags 16 Emmy Nominations

“When They See Us” is up for 16 nominations for 2019 Emmy Awards!

Created, co-written and directed by Ava DuVernay, the series is based on the 1989 Central Park jogger case and explores the lives of the families of and the five male suspects who were prosecuted in 1990 on charges related to the rape and assault of a woman in Central Park, New York City, the year before.

The miniseries received critical acclaim and was streamed by over 23 million viewers within its first month of release.

The Emmys will take place on Sept. 22nd at 8:00 p.m. ET at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and will premiere on Fox.
