Meek Mill Granted New Trial

Many have rallied behind Meek Mill since his imprisonment for the last 5 months in Philadelphia. The MMG rapper appeared in court today, even though he was not set free he still received positive news. The Philadelphia District Attorney, Larry Krasner, has granted Meek a new trial for his probation violation case. If you are not familiar with Meek’s case, serving out an 2 to 4 year sentence ordered by Judge Genece Brinkley for violating his parole. Meek was originally sentenced to be on probation for 10 years for a gun charge. His legal team made the announcement saying;

“…That effort by this District Attorney was to remove an indelible stain that’s was placed on the criminal justice system back in November. ”

Meek Mill’s next hearing is not until June, which leaves him behind bars for another three months. This may say like a downfall but Meek is in good spirits about the situation and believes his incarceration is a mission he’s been given by God;

“I say don’t show me no pity because this is my life,” he said during a phone-interview with NBC Nightly News’ Lester Holt, last Thursday. “This is what I’ve been going through and I think God put me in this position to be able to do a show with Lester Holt and open up eyes for other young Black men.”
